Hey there, it’s your pals the Pissed Jeans! Not a massive drop this month, just a few things to mention, all of which are of vast importance of course.
First and foremost - SHOWS! We’re playing Friday, October 14th at Foto Club in Philadelphia with a stacked lineup of bands who are probably younger than us but that’s okay, not all bands can be perfect*! (*in their 40s)
No advance tickets, you just gotta figure out where Foto Club is (luckily the address is above), then show up with a crisp Andrew Jackson. Or maybe they take Venmo now too? It’s up to you if you wanna risk it. This should be a really fun, cool show, and I think it’ll be in the outdoor patio area, weather-allowing!
Two days later, we’ll be in New York at TV Eye, once again with the glorious Waste Man, who were from New Orleans but may have partially relocated to New York? Hard to say these days, everyone is trying to find the least painful place to live it seems, or New York City, apparently. You can buy tickets here, and I strongly urge that you do so! Nothing like a fresh pair of tickets in your pocket to make you feel unstoppable this autumn. I should mention we’ll have fresh tees for sale at these gigs, too!
You may have noticed both gigs are with Waste Man, and that’s no accident - we are big fans of this band, and excited to see them live! They’re kinda like a mix of Saccharine Trust, Rites Of Spring and Adolescents, with hooks galore and great style. Check out this video if you want a taste, and if you don’t think they make for an excellent pairing with us, well, scream in the comments below.
We’re also headed back to The City Of Winners, Atlantic City NJ, in November! You haven’t seen the boardwalk there until you’ve seen it in 45 degree rainy weather, I tell you what. That’s Saturday, November 12th, with Gutter Drunk and Reckless Randy. Though maybe we can mix things up the day of and convince them to team up as Gutter Randy & The Reckless Drunks. Tickets for this one are available here, and we’d love to see you there!
Now, you may have noticed that we aren’t really traveling a whole lot, and that’s mostly because we’re finishing up writing a new record (oh hell yes) and also because touring is still kinda weird, plus it’s not something we’ve ever really done extensively anyway. BUT, as our finite time on this planet continues to drip away like grains of sand in an hourglass, we’d love to play outside our usual Northeast zone! If you have a great idea for a show in your general area, hit us up maybe? We’ve never played Denver, Minneapolis or Miami for example, never as in never in this band’s rich history, and it’s probably high time we figured out a way to do so.
Other news! If you’re in the Philadelphia area, Matt is DJing a fancy “listening room” thing with our chum Bill Nace on Wednesday October 19th, follow him at @mattkorvette on Instagram for details once that’s formally announced. No idea if it’s free or not, but let’s hope Bill is at least properly compensated somehow. Sean’s Garden Bar in Doylestown continues to hop through November, be sure to peep that over at @gardenbar_dtown (also on the dreaded Instagram) for details on events and what not. Besides that, we’re looking into dropping a sole (but massive) new tune in the near future, just trying to figure out how best to deploy it in this creepy digital age. More on that as we figure it out! And we’d be remiss if we didn’t include Brad’s Video Pick Of The Month:
It’s fall time and when the air gets cool and the leaves start to change, we all get ready to celebrate. That’s right, the third Tuesday of each October we celebrate National Bassists Day. This month’s video is a tribute to tone. It’s a tone like no other and it’s a tone I’ve been chasing and will continue to chase, it’s Gastunk live in 1985.
Excellent pick, Brad! Talk to y’all next month!
I would love to see a show where you guys only play the slow Jams..... You know like the jogger, scrapbooking, spent etc. I like seeing you guys at unexpected venues. The AC was dope.
Please come to San Diego and play Casbah, Belly Up, Soda Bar, Music Box, any of the venues would be stoked to have you!
