Hello friends of Pissed Jeans! Hope all is well. Busy times here in Jeansland!
First and foremost, wanted to make sure you knew that our seven-inch single is officially out now on all formats! “All” meaning vinyl and digital, because who would ever want a tape or a compact-disc of it? You can stream it all over the place, or better yet, buy a copy of the limited, never-to-be-repressed vinyl right here! The b-side is a particularly off-the-wall version of “Bathroom Laughter”, recorded live at the end of a poorly-ventilated all-day fest inside an antique mall in scenic Allentown, PA. It devolves gloriously; an enthusiastic audience member commandeered Sean’s drums for the improvised dirge finale, in fact. It was just a beautiful moment and we were right in the middle of recording Why Love Now when we played so everything was super tight. If you insist on me doing all of the work for you, you can hear it on YouTube below!

Super psyched to be playing with Carnivorous Bells and Kilynn Lunsford, two of the finest acts Philadelphia has to offer. I’d say “It’s A Philly Thing, You Wouldn’t Understand”, but we sincerely believe you will understand, and also love it! I think Randy is also making a PISSED JEANS banner for these gigs? Can’t wait to see it!
After these shows, I’m hoping we’ll have a little more to share about our NEW ALBUM we’re putting finishing touches on! But in the meantime, I thought it’d be nice to get a little personal for a moment and share some random recommendations. Here’s what we’re into right now!
Brad:
I’d like to recommend the song “Fingerpuppet” by Jim Campilongo. This song has made it to multiple playlists of mine and while being over six minutes long, I make it all the way through every time. The riff is weird as hell, but the part where he drops tuning to low E is the heaviest thing since “Liege of Inveracity”.
Matt:
My girlfriend Alina Pleskova is releasing her first book, Toska, in a couple weeks on the excellent Deep Vellum press out of Dallas! I’m clearly biased but her poetry is fantastic, it really digs deep into the heart of our unsatisfying world in a unique and unflinching way. It certainly inspires me to step up my lyric game. Check it out here please!
Randy:
Si Taqueria on 15th & Federal has become my go to spot for casual Mexican in Philly. They have my absolute favorite Al Pastor in the city. Marinated pork stacked high on a vertical shawarma grill, a big hunk of pineapple resting on top. There’s a small bar at the counter with the perfect trifecta of fresh salsas. The staff is super friendly, and there’s a beer spot across the street. I recommend grabbing a six pack, a bunch of tacos, and a small table outside.
Sean:
There is a brewery in North Philly I love called Sacred Vice that makes an irresponsibly small amount of beer. My favorite of theirs is an English style dark mild called Back Trunk Britches. For a beer so dark in color, it is exceptionally light bodied and easy to toss back. It’s dry and delicately bitter and has a faint flavor of dark chocolate. My favorite part is the tiniest bit of toffee sweetness that I taste right after I’ve swallowed it, like a treat for my tongue that’s late to the party yet begs “please sir, may I have some more”. It’s so satisfying to drink, it doesn’t give me heartburn and I’m astonished that they have managed to pack all of that flavor and complexity into a 3.5% abv beer which means one may drink MANY of them and not get overly home blitzed. The perfect combo for someone like me, who wants to wear out their elbows drinking on summer nights. If you live in Philly or are just stopping by I recommend tracking it down… you can thank me by buying me one.
Do you guys know the band Flipper?
